There are so many great playgrounds in the Pittsburgh area! We picked out some of the best ones to visit with your family.
Outdoor Playgrounds
Black and Gold Park
South Park
This park is best known for its iconic color scheme. It’s a fairly no-frills playground with standard attractions, but it’s been a popular playground for local families for many years.
Blue Slide Playground
Pittsburgh
This playground gained notoriety as the namesake of rapper Mac Miller’s debut album, but it’s one of Pittsburgh’s most iconic playgrounds in its own right. The park is named for the large blue slide built into the side of the hill. For the best experience, kids should slide down on one of the pieces of cardboard that can be found near the slide.

Casey’s Clubhouse
Upper St. Clair
This baseball-themed playground is a must for fans of the sport. Named for former Major League Baseball All-Star Sean Casey, the playground features oversized baseball equipment and easy access to nearby baseball fields.
Dormont Park
Pittsburgh
An extensive wooden playground designed to look like a castle. Some playgrounds built in this style attract beehives, so exercise caution while playing.
Highland Park Super Playground
Pittsburgh
If you used to go to this park as a child, it may not look like you remember it, as it was redone in 2022. While it’s not a wooden castle-style playground anymore, it’s still a sizeable play area with a climbing structure in the shape of a pirate ship.
Kids Castle
Cranberry Township
Kids Castle is a volunteer-built playground split into three areas: the simplistic attractions of the “Past” area, the popular, kid-requested features of the “Present” and the cutting-edge, futuristic play spaces of the “Future.”
Moon Park
Moon Township
Blast off into fun at the space-themed Moon Park, which has a rocket-shaped climbing tower, a slide coming out of a moon rover and even an astronaut statue. It’s a great place to visit if your child likes airplanes, as planes regularly take off and land at the nearby airport and can be seen from the park.
North Strabane Park
Canonsburg
There are two playgrounds at this park: one aimed at toddlers, and one for older kids. Both playgrounds have a unique rocky aesthetic, evoking the feeling of exploring a cave or climbing on a canyon.
Indoor Playgrounds
424 Play Factory
Pittsburgh
Ages: 0-8
This indoor playground is primarily focused on soft play, with plenty of inflatable slides and obstacle courses. It also has break areas where kids can color or build with LEGO bricks.
(The) Discovery Building
Mars
Ages: 0-11
Attached to Discovery Christian Church, this community center has a free indoor playground where kids can have fun and make friends. It also has a free mini golf course and a workspace for adults.
Dragon’s Den
Homestead
Ages: 5 and older
This unique attraction is housed in a former church and contains a large ropes course. The Floating Dragons lower course is specifically aimed at kids ages 5 to 9, while kids ages 10 and older can take on the Soaring Dragons upper course.
Fun Slides Carpet Skatepark
Pittsburgh
Ages: 3 and older
The world’s only carpet skate park, this attraction invites visitors to slip and slide all over its skating course with only their socks! It’s a great alternative to roller or ice skating, as it’s relatively safe and easy to learn.

Petite Street
McMurray
Ages: Old enough to walk
Previously known as Lilliput Towne Center, this children’s museum and play center was put under new management in 2025. It continues to offer a mock town setting where kids can play pretend and try their hand at “adult” jobs.
Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library
Pittsburgh
Ages: All
One of the oldest toy lending libraries in the United States, this volunteer-run venue allows member families to take home its toys and return them later. It also operates as a play center with some larger attractions.
Playground World
Wexford
Ages: All
Playground World is a playground equipment supplier, but it offers a unique “Pay to Play” service where kids can spend time on its play sets, trampolines and sports equipment. If you’re considering buying a play set, it’s a great way to try before you buy.
The Trendy Bunny Greensburg
Ages: 0-8 (and parents)
A chic, lowkey cafe with an attached “play cafe” indoor playground where kids can play while parents enjoy a drink or get their work done. The Trendy Bunny also holds Mommy
& Me playgroups every Wednesday, and a story time every Thursday.
