Grow Beyond Soil: Hydroponics is designed for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Do you think plants can grow without soil? If you’ve tried growing veggies, you probably planted the seeds or seedlings in soil. Soil gives plants the nutrients they need to grow. However, plants can grow without soil, too, using a process called hydroponics. In this camp, students will be introduced to hydroponic gardening in a unique setting – a container farm. In addition, students will get their hands dirty in the edible gardens. Teachers and staff will lead lessons and projects that expose students to chemistry, physics, math, health, technology, language arts, and social justice. Lunch is included and swimming and other recreational activities will be provided to give campers opportunities to socialize. There will be two one-week sessions, June 24-28, and July 8-12, from 8:30 AM-3:30 PM Monday through Friday. The cost is $175.

Unlocking the Power of Precalculus is designed for rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. The central theme of this course is comparing, contrasting, and transforming functions in order to model change. We emphasize that functions can be grouped into families – linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, power, polynomial, rational, and trigonometric – and that these functions can be used as models for real-world behavior. Students will use technology and analytic methods to investigate and apply course material. An introduction to calculus concepts such as sequences, series, limits, and parametric equations will be included as time permits. There will be one six-week session, June 17-July 26, from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM Monday through Friday. The cost is $1,050 and the course is eligible for four math credits or as an enrichment course.

Mathematical Marvels Algebra Camp is designed for rising 9th and 10th graders. At pre-algebra camp, we will review and drill the key concepts from your pre-algebra class to set you up for success in Algebra I. Whether math is your hobby or your kryptonite, pre-algebra camp will be a painless way to get back in the game! Why pre-algebra bootcamp? If even professional musicians always practice their scales, it’s just as important for math students to drill the basics. We will cover such topics as fractions, exponents, roots, and solving equations – topics that frequently rear their heads in high school classes. Small gaps early on inevitably become big gaps later on, so it is vital to master the tools you will use daily in future years. There will be one two-week session, June 17-28, from 9:30-11:30 AM Monday through Friday. The cost is $350.
