The company was created in 2008 by Chris and his very supportive wife, Julie. In fact, Chris created this company so that someday he would have the financial opportunity to let his wife be a stay at home mom. Chris & Julie Hartsfield have three kids; Alex, age 10, Brodie, age 8 and Sophia, age 4. For Chris, becoming a dad changed his life, but it wasn’t always smooth sailing. As many of us know, parenting can be a very scary job. He described the range of emotions as joy to pure terror. Chris remembers thinking “one minute you can’t snuggle them enough, the next minute you are worried that you are going to break them taking off their t-shirt!” Despite the fear, Chris wouldn’t change it for the world. “I remember vividly the first time Alex smiled at me. He was 1 week old. Some people say it was gas, but I know the truth! You get those little moments like a picture, etched into your mind that you cherish forever.”
Chris remembers his first diaper change like it was yesterday. It was day two, they were still in the hospital and his wife was sleeping so he decided he was ready to take on this new daddy task unaware of the meconium madness that comes along with a newborn. Chanting in his head “you can do it” he opened the diaper and like any new dad he panicked, running to the nurse’s station with a look of shock on his face. A nurse and doctor rushed out to check the baby. Finally, the doctor after long debate said, “Congratulations Mr. Hartsfield. Your son just had his first bowel movement.”
Realizing moment’s like these were probably the norm for new daddies, Chris created the Daddy Diaper Changing Toolbox. It’s fun and functional, putting a hilarious twist on what can be a very overwhelming moment in the mind of a first-time dad.
