Summer fun at the zoo

A brood of bouncing babies at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium makes every day fun for all!

At over 600 pounds, our baby rhino Janine is a blast to watch.  She loves to race around her yard and playing in the mud is a must on her to do list.

Across the pathway, our little tiger cub is a ball of black and orange energy. The little cub will soon be scampering around the yard and pausing at the tiger window to check out the visitors.

Guests can also stop and see the baby gorilla on exhibit daily. He will be reintroduced to his family after spending some time at our Animal Care Center because he didn’t get enough nourishment from mom. During that time though, he visited every day with mom and family members and will soon be part of the family again.

Finally, while she may be more of a toddler, one can’t miss the cuddly ways of the red panda. Two-year-old Xia is never bored in her outdoor yard. Watch as she climbs and sprawls out on a tree limb, lazily munching on bamboo leaves. Keep your eyes peeled, because she loves to burrow among the plants and peer out at visitors.

Enjoy these bundles of excitement at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
