Students work with Professional Artist to create mosaic

Professional Artist, Laura Jean McLaughlin, will be a “resident artist” for 10 weeks on the campus of Blessed Francis Seelos Academy in Wexford beginning April 1st. She will work with a core group of eighth graders each week.  Additionally, each homeroom from kindergarten through seventh grade will have time to work with Laura.  Together, the students will make a large mosaic that will hang near the school lobby when it is complete.  Students will design it, nip tiles, glue tiles, grout, and more.

Laura Jean Has created over 100 collaborative mosaic murals and installation throughout the city of Pittsburgh and as far away as Tolne Denmark.  The program is part of the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media through their Artists in Schools & Communities Program
