The New School Experience
The Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (PA Cyber) proudly offers students in grades K-12 an alternative to traditional education. Families look beyond their local school district for a wide range of reasons, and sometimes it’s necessary to try a new school experience. After 24 years of perfecting online education and with a legacy of 21,000 graduates, PA Cyber has demonstrated that cyber school is a long-term option for many students.
As a public school, PA Cyber is open for enrollment to any school-age child residing in Pennsylvania and falls under the same funding as your local school district. Students receive all the technology they need to get fully connected, including a laptop, printer, headset, and writing tablet. Eight hundred state-certified teachers, advisors, and staff provide individualized attention to approximately 11,000 students enrolled from nearly every school district in the state.
Data based on PA Cyber’s graduation rates and family engagement survey:
- 97% graduation rate for students who attend 4 or more years at PA Cyber
- 98% of families would recommend PA Cyber to others
- 97% of parents know how well their child is progressing in school
Putting Social in Cyber
Students and families attend numerous in-person opportunities year-round. The school has nine regional offices statewide that serve as hubs for enrollment, orientation, and enrichment activities. PA Cyber’s Pittsburgh-based offices are located in the South Side and Warrendale. These offices host game nights, dances, STEM workshops, career days, art classes, and more. PA Cyber celebrates major milestones, with two proms and two graduation ceremonies annually.
“I enjoy going to in-person events because it allows me to meet families that are getting their children educated in the same way and sometimes for the same reasons,” said Erin Butler, a high school science teacher at PA Cyber. She is also the parent of a current PA Cyber student and a 2024 graduate. “Meeting and talking with other parents is a real help in getting the most out of PA Cyber and in learning about other opportunities the school offers (like clubs and the College in High School program). With all the in-person events, there is little trade-off between cyber school and traditional education.”
Personalized Education
PA Cyber’s teachers and staff recognize the different developmental stages students typically follow while respecting each child’s unique abilities. This flexible but focused learning model allows teachers to use a variety of strategies and curriculum choices to create a personalized education program.
The curriculum balances core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies with fine arts, career readiness, and technology courses. PA Cyber meets the curriculum requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and is accredited by the prestigious Middle States Association.
For decades, PA Cyber has proven that online learning works for many. This unique school has grown and evolved—right along with its students—becoming the most experienced online public school in the state. If, for whatever reason, you need to consider a new school experience for your child, contact PA Cyber.
