Pittsburgh Parent magazine has received a Silver medal and national recognition for Overall Editorial Excellence in the 2015 Parenting Media Association (PMA) annual Editorial and Design Competition. A total of over 600 entries were submitted for competition this year with Pittsburgh Parent winning a Silver and two Bronze medals.
This years winners are:
Overall writing:
Silver: Pittsburgh Parent Magazine; “2015 Around and About Pittsburgh”; Lynn Honeywill, publisher; Patricia Poshard, editor
This is an excellent resource for parents looking for fresh ideas for how to engage children of any age in healthy activities and encourage them to spend more rewarding time with their families.
Cover:
Bronze: Pittsburgh Parent Magazine; “2015 Around & About Pittsburgh”; Pat Poshard, editor
Sports fans will love this cover. Pittsburgh kids wear uniforms of three local teams, showing some of what will be found in the magazine. The colors are simple and not distracting, and the white background makes the children stand out.
Overall design:
Bronze: Pittsburgh Parent Magazine; “Around and About Pittsburgh”; staff
Pittsburgh’s magazine is organized well into four categories. This Reader’s Digest size magazine is compact in presentation, too. The listings are easily readable because of the type size and the use of white space and boldface
The annual PMA Editorial and Design Competition recognizes excellence in journalism, photography and design achieved in parenting publications. The contest is coordinated and entries judged by Professor Daryl Moen of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
