Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School

"Winner – Best Family Dance School/Studio in Pittsburgh – Trib Total Media Reader's Choice Award"
From pre-ballet to pre-professional, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School guides dancers every step along the way.
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, the official training institution of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, is recognized as one of the nation’s finest schools for dance education and training.
Under the direction of PBT Artistic Director Terrence S. Orr and School Co-directors Marjorie Grundvig and Dennis Marshall, PBT School offers a thorough and well-rounded dance education to over 1,300 students of all ages, skills and interest levels – taught by faculty and guest teachers of international acclaim. PBT School encourages students to grow in their technique and artistry within a positive and inspirational learning environment.
PBT School’s bright, air-conditioned facility is located in the Strip District, just 1.5 miles from the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. It features seven spacious studios with sprung Harlequin floors.

Both the Children’s and Student Divisions help budding ballet dancers exercise their bodies and imaginations under the guidance of instructors who specialize in early childhood education. Students strengthen their technique in the studio and work toward the chance to showcase their new repertoire on stage. Both divisions also offer fun, themed workshops throughout the summer and school year!
The Pre-Professional Division trains the next generation of professional dancers with career-track curriculum inspired by the realities of a professional ballet company. PBT School’s diverse student body comes from across the country, around the world and locally in Pittsburgh. PBT School welcomes an average of 200 out-of-state and international students into its intensive training program each year.
PBT School’s Community Division offers the opportunity for individuals of all levels to train like a dancer. From Pilates and TRX to barre fitness and ballet, PBT School’s Community Division offers options for teens and adults, ages 14 and up, to attend on a flexible, drop-in basis.
