Patriotic Sensory Bottle Craft

Do you need a fun activity to keep the kids occupied during summer break, or a game for your next BBQ? during summer break, or a game for your next BBQ?

Patriotic Sensory Bottle:

Supplies:

  • Empty water or soda bottle with the label removed. (Single serving size)
  • Corn syrup
  • Glitter
  • A variety of tiny objects to add to your bottle. I used small plastic jewels, foam stars, and Fun Loom Bands.
  • Hot glue gun
  • Duct tape
  • Optional: Ribbon or garland for tying around the neck of the bottle.

Directions:

Remove the bottle lid and put the objects you have chosen inside the bottle, except for the glitter. Fill the bottle ? full with corn syrup. Next, add warm water, filling the bottle to about half an inch from the top. Screw the cap on tightly, then tilt the bottle back and forth and observe the objects floating in the solution. If you don’t think there are enough objects, add more until you get the effect you desire. Next, take off the cap and add the glitter a little at a time, putting the cap back on in between additions to see if you have enough sparkle. Once you are satisfied with the contents of your bottle, dry the threads on both the neck of the bottle, and the inside of the cap. Put a line of hot glue on the threads of the bottle and screw on the lid to glue it into place. Once the glue is cooled, add another layer of protection by wrapping duct tape around the cap securely. Tie some ribbon or garland onto the neck of the bottle for extra bling if you like.
