October Is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

People with disabilities are already one of the most overlooked talent pools in today’s labor force, causing many job seekers with IDD to remain unemployed or underemployed. This year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month occurs as we continue to face the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the direst economic recessions in recent memory. Research shows the recession has not been felt evenly across the labor force; systematically marginalized communities—like people with disabilities—have experienced higher than average unemployment.
