Carnegie Science Center

When school is out, science is in at Carnegie Science Center! We are offering more camps than ever before, including dozens of new themes for 2019! From robotics to astronomy, engineering to video game design, summer science camps offer awe-inspiring education, but are so much fun, kids don’t realize how much they’re learning.

Inquisitive campers ages 4-18 have a unique chance to investigate careers in science, technology, engineering, and math this summer when they step into the shoes of computer programmers, astronomers, scientists, and robotic engineers. Whether it’s learning chemistry in the kitchen, solving puzzles in a real escape room, or exploring the amazing biology of Pittsburgh’s rivers, a summer camp at Carnegie Science Center will create memories that last a lifetime.

Select camps also make use of the BNY Mellon Fab Lab at Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh’s digital fabrication laboratory. At Fab Lab camps, campers explore “maker” technologies and game design – and even get a chance to build a mini indoor drone!

Science Center camps include access to hundreds of hands-on exhibits, the world-class Buhl Planetarium, a real Cold War-era submarine, The Rangos Giant Cinema, and Highmark SportsWorks®. Science education professionals lead camp activities. In some cases, campers have an opportunity to take scientific field trips. Field trips include Kennywood and a Just Ducky Boat Tour.
