Breastfeeding tip of day available online throughout August

To celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, August 1 – 7, and this year’s theme Talk To Me! which is designed to promote open communication about breastfeeding, the Allegheny County Breastfeeding Coalition is offering a “Breastfeeding Tip of The Day” throughout the month of August.

             The Breastfeeding Coalition, a group of local physicians, lactation consultants and other health care professionals who work with the Allegheny County Health Department to encourage and support breastfeeding, is providing the daily tips on the Health Department’s web site at www.achd.net

            The tips give the health benefits of breastfeeding and also offer useful and practical advice on how to deal with various issues and challenges that may arise when moms breastfeed, especially for the first time.

            In addition, answers from a board-certified lactation consultant to questions about breastfeeding are just a phone call away by calling the Allegheny County Breastfeeding Helpline at 412-247-1000 or The Breastfeeding Center of Pittsburgh at 412-246-4726.
