The Pittsburgh Tomorrow Leadership Corps are encouraging high school students to volunteer at the Beautify the Burgh event on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Allegheny Landing. The event is a collaboration between Pittsburgh Tomorrow, Allegheny Cleanways and Friends of the Riverfront.

Participants in the event will be picking up litter on a “Litter Walk” and helping to maintain the North Shore’s trails. High school students will be able to receive community service hours for participating.

Beautify the Burgh is part of Pittsburgh Tomorrow’s mission to make Pittsburgh a great place to live by protecting the local environment. The organization’s Leadership Corps is a volunteer group made up of high school students with a passion for leadership and community service, and the event is open to Leadership Corps members, prospective members interested in joining and anyone who wants to do good for the community.

Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes, and long pants are encouraged. Work gloves and other tools will be provided. Participants should also bring their own refillable water bottles.
