ACT ONE Theatre School 2020
Join ACT ONE as we explore the world of theatre and create memories to last a lifetime! From Kindergarten through 12thgrade, ACT ONE Summer Camp promises fun, challenging classes, interesting material, sensitive teachers, and lasting friendships!
ACT ONE students develop their skills and take performance risks in an atmosphere of acceptance and fun. Classes are small, affording students the opportunity for private coaching. Students also participate in vocal & dance ensembles. In addition, our 5th– 12thgraders are offered a wide variety of electives listed below.
Everyone Performs! Everyone is featured!
K-1stGrade: June 15 – July 2 (9 – 10:30am)
Our K-1 program will cover age-appropriate material in creative dramatics, singing, movement, and improvisation games. The curriculum emphasizes the nurturing of imagination and skills in a relaxed, fun environment. Classes will culminate in an open house/performance for family & friends.
2nd– 4thGRADE: June 15 – July 3 (10am-noon)
Our 2nd– 4thgrade curriculum focuses on skill development and includes Dance, Voice, Improv, Acting and laughter! In addition to singing and dancing, students will participate in theatre games. Family & friends are invited to see the students perform in an end-of-camp short musical production exhibiting the skills they have developed throughout the program.
5th– 12thGrade(Jun. 15 – Jul. 10, 9am-4pm)
This year we are excited to introduce our new 3 Track Program! Students in all tracks will participate in the following core classes:
- Large & Small Group Voice
- Musical Theatre Dance Styles, including Jazz
- Scene Study & Monologues
- Acting for the Camera
- Audition Technique
- Development and performance of an original work (New Works)
Students also choose from a variety of electives, which may include, but are not limited to:
- FROZEN JR. (Track 1 below)
- Stage Combat
- Be A Rockstar! (Pop, Rock & R&B)
- Script & Lyric Writing
- Filmmaking
- Hip Hop Dance
- World Drumming
- Music Composition
Students may also participate in our New Works programwhich is geared toward training the artist as creator & performer. Under the direction of professional choreographers, composers, directors, actors, and music directors, students will create and perform original material.
In addition to core classes, electives and New Works, the following will be offered:
FROZEN JR. TRACK:
- Perform in FROZEN JR.
- May audition for specific roles.
- Ensemble members will participate in Musical Revue or Tech Track
MUSICAL REVUE TRACK (ACT ONE Classic!)
- Perform in a Musical Revue
- Participate in the FROZEN JR. ensemble.
TECH TRACK
- Tech classes and hands-on Production training.
- Professional theatre tours!
- Students work backstage or perform in the productions.
All students will participate in two evenings of performances. Each evening will include a musical revue featuring solos, duets, scenes, dances & improv followed by the production of FROZEN JR. All students may participate in the ensemble of FROZEN JR.
Students are not required to sign up for a specific track at registration. We will provide further details on these tracks when camp begins.
And most importantly, ACT ONE summer camp is FUN!! Friendships flourish as students support and encourage the work of others.
