This summer, Pittsburgh Area Teens Can Become Real-World Entrepreneurs



Startable Pittsburgh is a free eight-week summer program that teaches maker and entrepreneurship skills to students. Applications must be in by May 15th!     

Startable is a free summer program that teaches teens 15-19 entrepreneurship and maker skills to help them launch their own handmade businesses. Over the course of eight weeks, students work with a team of experts to develop, design, prototype, build, brand, market and sell products of their own creation. All students between the ages of 15-19 are eligible for the program. No prior experience is necessary. Priority is given to female and/or minority applicants.

The 2017 program takes place June 26-August 18. It runs Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Students split their time between AlphaLab Gear and TechShop. Also! Startable provides students with up to $250 in investment for their businesses, free TechShop classes, and a $500 stipend for their participation in the program. Students who satisfactorily complete the program also receive a free year-long TechShop membership. In addition to leaving the program with a viable business, several program alumni have left the program with important network connections, internships, apprenticeships and job offers.
